Hey anyone else use OnLive? (No not Xbox Live) Its this awesome cloud based PC gaming system so even if your PC cant run a certain PC Game like Homefront or Dirt 3 you can still play it on your PC. Rumor: Next Xbox

Microsoft maybe targeting a Christmas 2013 release for the Xbox 720 (or what ever it will be called), with a reveal to occur at E3 2013, according to a number of industry sources.

Industry site Develop claims that Microsoft already has several next generation projects underway including the next Fable game, code-named ”Fable Next.”

“Multiple sources across the industry, from processor chip manufacturers to middleware firms, have told Develop they expect the console to be fully unveiled at E3 2013, months before its release. The collection of data points to a 2013 launch for the system across all main regions, though early 2014 remains a possibility,” says the site.

An All-Electric DeLorean Set To Hit the Streets in 2013!

 

Its not your Marty McFly DeLorean, The iconic DeLorean Motor Company has weathered a stormy past, but is coming back with a vengeance by introducing an electric version of it gull-winged masterpiece. The company just rolled out a prototype DMC-12 Ev at the DMC Texas Open House – and it’s a retro-future dream machine. While it doesn’t run on fusion power (yet) it still has some sweet performance statistics like a top speed of 125 mph driven by a 260 horsepower electric motor. Hang on tight, because the first production model is due out in 2013.

Electric exotic cars are all the rage, as they’ve proven they can outperform their gas-powered rivals. The all-electric production DMC-12 is the latest EV to prove this trend, and it’s adding some real style to the mix. Lithium-ion batteries will energize the central rear-mounted motor, which is placed as low as possible to help the car hug the road. There’s no announcement on the vehicle’s range, but cost is projected to be in the $90-100K range. The interior looks to be wrapped in leather and it comes complete all the latest high-tech systems – a decidedly non-retro approach.

The relaunched DeLorean Motor Company (which has been restoring cars and just began building new stainless steel beauts) will collaborate with Epic EV to make this dream car possible.

Xbox LIVE Public Preview Program is now up

At E3 we announced the new Xbox LIVE dashboard which will deliver intuitive navigation, increased responsiveness and improved engagement with Xbox experiences – all beginning this holiday. Now that our work on the dashboard is almost complete, we are announcing an open call for all Xbox LIVE members to register to participate in a preview program to help us test the system. This is an important program as we continually strive to ensure the reliability of a service that reaches tens of millions globally. We could not do so without the ongoing help of our great community.

Once this program is kicked off, an update will be pushed to your console that will contain select dashboard features, including:

• New design with integrated Kinect voice and gesture controls
• Beacons
• Facebook Sharing
• Cloud Storage for Game Saves and Xbox LIVE Profile

Other features and entertainment partner apps may come into view during the program period.

Note: A console in the program is expected to remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program. (e.g. party chat will function)

For those familiar with previous registrations for our program, we have a new model for registering your consoles this year.  The new model is a more automated process that should make it easier for you.  We will not ask you to type in your console information upon initial registration; once you are approved to participate in the program, look for details on our portal about how to register your console.

Qwikster’s out Netflix’s back in

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced this morning that Netflix won’t split into two separate services as planned. The news comes less than a month after the company’s stock went into freefall following its announced split into disc-based and streaming entities named Qwikster and Netflix, respectively.

“It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVD,” Hasting wrote on the company’s official blog this morning. “This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster.”

There is no update on Netflix’s desire to enter the video game rental space in Hastings’ post. We are currently following up with the company to find out if those plans have changed too.

Apple founder Steve Jobs passes away at 56

Sadly, one of the greats of our time and a revolutionary of this technological world, Steve Jobs has passed away today. Apple sent out the following press release to confirm what the public was not looking forward to hearing:

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.”

Rumor: Is Microsoft going to announce Xbox 720 soon ?

Some of you may have seen the TV spots for the new movie called “Real Steel”. Well while watching the trailer a few eagle eyed people spotted a logo for the Xbox 720, a yet to be announced system. I know what most people are thinking, “Well the movie is set in the future”. While that may be true the other logos are still relevant today and it seems a bit odd to have an Xbox 720 logo there to advertise a product that hasn’t even been formally announced yet.

Windows Phone 7.5 ‘Mango’ update begins rolling out today

Windows Phone 7.5 (AKA Mango) is now officially ready to get pushed to existing devices, and in a big way. Taking lessons Microsoft learned from the update debacle that was NoDo, the company’s eager to do a much more efficient (and quick) job of rolling out its latest revamp. While Redmond didn’t offer any exact details on which phones would be the lucky recipients right away, it’ll be keeping the masses posted through its “where’s my phone update” page. If your handset is listed, hook it up to your computer, load the Zune client and there should be a lovely message waiting for you. As always, don’t feel too discouraged if your device isn’t available right away, since these rollouts have a habit of taking a bit of time to get to everyone.

In addition to the rollout, the Web Marketplace will also make its debut, giving Windows Phone users the opportunity to do what Android users already enjoy — the ability to surf for apps online and have them downloaded directly on the phone with no sideloading required. There’s one bit of sad news to relay to anyone that already has a Windows Phone, however: Microsoft confirmed to us that Internet Sharing — the long-awaited mobile hotspot functionality — will not be available for existing devices. There’s no word on if this will be offered through a future update or if it’s a permanent deal, but at least it’s only a single thorn in an entire rose garden of good news.

Adobe Flash 11 And AIR 3 Will Deliver ‘Console-Quality’ Games

 

Adobe today expressed details of its upcoming Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 which the software maker has said will offer development of  high-end, 3D-intensive games on smartphone and tablet devices alike.

The company’s very latest AIR and Flash Player software will enable developers to unleash their mastery across the likes of OS X, Android, RIM BlackBerry, Windows and connected TVs, to name a few. However, because Flash and Apple famously don’t mix, iOS will be limited only to AIR 3.

Adobe has billed Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 as the “game console for the Web,” as the collaboration will allow 2D and 3D games to be enjoyed across the net on “nearly all PCs and many other devices.”

The duo will bring full hardware-accelerated rendering for 2D and 3D graphics, enabling  1,000 times faster rendering performance over their respective predecessors. Smooth 60 FPS rendering will give developers the capacity to deliver console-quality games surpassing anything currently available on a mobile device.

F8 Facebook Developers Conference Live

Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg are preparing to make what is being hailed as a major announcement today at the f8 developer’s conference in San Francisco.

Varying rumours are doing the rounds on the internet about what Zuckerberg will be announcing, but according to Ben Parr from Mashable who’s seen the “mind-boggling” changes – “it’s going to change the world of social media…. Facebook will be reborn”. you can read parrs  story here on GCG …
